Tips for How to Maintain Straight Hair for WEEKS!

We’ve talked a lot about hair straightening on this site, a lot about what straighteners to use, permanent straightening, and how to keep your hair healthy. Today, we will be focusing on a similar topic, which is how to maintain your straight hair for weeks (or as long as possible)!

These tips for keeping your hair straight are suitable for any treatment you decide to do, whether at home straightening or the stylist!

Tip #1: Wrap your hair!

Wrapping your hair is one of the most important things to do for keeping your hair straightened for any prolonged period of time. Not only does it help keep your hair straight, but it is also incredibly healthy for your hair!

Hair, especially curly hair, can sometimes experience breakages at night, which is naturally something we’d all like to avoid. By wrapping your hair, you can retain moisture in your hair, prevent breakage, get rid of bedhead, and all around improve your hair quality.

Now, all that being said, you should learn how to wrap your hair properly or you might end up causing damage to it! But worry not! It isn’t that difficult to learn.

The video below will show you exactly how to wrap your hair and keep it nice and straight.

Some benefits of wrapping your hair other than straightening:

  • Reduces dryness
  • Prevents breakages and tangles
  • Reduces dryness of your hair
  • Eliminates frizz
  • Keeps hairstyles longer

All in all, one of the most important parts of aftercare, from straightening your hair, might be wrapping it. Don’t avoid this if you want to keep your hair straight, healthy, and frizz-free!

Tip #2: Add Serum

Serum is an essential part of keeping your hair healthy and can prevent your hair from acting up on humid days. Humidity can kill a good hair day, so serum is important to help counteract this. Some people even choose to straighten their hair in the winter to avoid having such issues.

A good anti-frizz serum to use is Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-frizz serum. It helps to seal split ends and prevents humidity from taking over your hair. Even a few drops are enough, so don’t be afraid to use them! When applying the serum, make sure you start at the root of your hair and work your way down until the tips.

Less than a dime size can work for most people! Making it a cost-effective solution for dealing with hot, humid, and moist days.

You don’t want to add too many products to your hair when it’s already straight, as your hair is already trying its best to produce natural oils. Adding extra oils and products on top will make your hair greasy and more weighed down and force you to wash it prematurely, which is not what we want for maintaining straight hair!

Tip #3: Use Dry Shampoo

Use Dry Shampoo

If you’ve followed the first few tips, you will likely have already made your straight hair last for weeks. Around the 2nd to 3rd week, you might notice a dry scalp, some dandruff, and all that excess oil. This will likely cause an overwhelming urge to wash your hair, thereby ruining your straight hair.

To prevent this, we recommend you use a dry shampoo. This product will help you extend your straight hair for maybe another week and is usually only for when you’re just about to wash your hair.

The product we recommend using is the Batiste Dry Shampoo. It is very simple to use, relatively cheap, and has never failed me yet!

You’ll only want to use this towards the end or when you think you’ll be washing your hair soon. The way it works is by absorbing a lot of those extra oils, which will make your hair flowier and feel much better temporarily. However, using it too much will cause your hair to become dry, which will have the opposite effect of what we are going for.

And that’s it for this article! Following the tips we outlined above, you will easily be able to extend your straight hair’s life for much longer than natural.

You can choose any of the products we recommended above or go with something else entirely if you prefer a different brand. As long as the product doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients, you should be fine!

Good luck!
